In the series, Januš Aleš Luznar, along with a collaboration team of experts, explores the intersections of art and technology, and the links between sound biodata and organic human body.
Although they speak different languages that are difficult to translate, the artist searches for their coincidental and undeniable parallels through which they communicate.
The human heart in the series goes far beyond the metaphor field of performing with a heart. It is an actual, living, physical, musical and visual instrument. It is placed in various contexts, thus transcending the separation that man experiences during the Anthropocene epoch, due to loss of contact with himself and consequently, with nature.
The author seeks the answer in the ultimate intimacy, which he addresses with a naked heart and places the subject in a space of inevitable truth where one can no longer escape. Not in front of himself, nor in front of the others.
The series is based on an audiovisual image that comes from a heartbeat and dynamically depicts the intimate relationship between the audience and the collective heartbeat.
The artist explores the application of the Biofeedback method as artistic inspiration, by applying feedback loops between physical and mental states.
Ictus Cordis series promotes the awakening of consciousness by listening and observing. Finding yourself in the heartbeat of another means recognising the connection between all.

"Variatio" is the first performance from the series in which Januš Aleš Luznar manipulates the hearts of invited guests in real time with the help of modulation effects and synthesizers and creates an immersive audiovisual experience.
"Variatio" is dedicated to research of the impact of psychological-manipulative loops or. manipulative ‘‘ biofeedback loop ’’ on different profiles of people.
The author is interested in their response to the Ictuscordis performance experience, also from the point of view of their profession, so each session was followed by a short conversation.
During the preparations in 2020, there were several guests invited to the studio with whom the ''variatio'' experience has been tested. Some excerpts of sound recordings from these meetings have also been included in the music album in collaboration with Kamizdat record label, released in March 2021.

Audiovisual dance performance based on the heartbeat of two performers, a choreographer / dancer and a musician.
At the forefront of the performative research and staging is the creation of a new space of references, the intersection of science and art in the case of rhythmic coincidence and the synchronization of two heartbeats.
Januš Aleš Luznar uses a specially designed high-sensitivity microphone connected to the mixer and modulating effects to manipulate the heart beat into a rhythmic and harmonic electronic music.
The body of the dancer Gyula Cserepes is, however, connected to a heart rate sensor that controls the visual image of the performance.
The audio part of the performance responds to the heart of the musician through sound manipulation and the heartbeat of the dancer triggers the visual content.
The authors explore how the presence and the atmosphere of the music performer as well as the movements of the dancer affect each other, and what is the language that their hearts speak.
They are searching for a space of synchronicity and harmony.

In the first part of the series, Januš Aleš Luznar invites his audience to an intimate feedback loop of his heartbeat.
He uses a custom made analog circuit FAT preamplifier with an electronically adapted stethoscope and manipulates with the sound of his heart in real time, with the use of sound processing modules and effects. This is reflected by the arousal and calming of the heart and the changes in the intensity of his heartbeat.
From the sound of his heart, he produces electronic music in real time. He also interprets the sound into abstract visualizations.
The latter, due to their power and intensity, give rise to psychological manipulative loops, which are shaped live by the artist according to the dramaturgy of the sound part of the performance. No pre-recorded sounds or samples are used.
With the "modulatio" performance, Januš Aleš Luznar invites the audience into the sacred space of artistic and spiritual intimacy and invites visitors to indulge in music and visualizations from his heart.
The performance offers an intense experience, so it usually takes few moments for the audience and the performer to become aware of their surroundings. Performances are usually followed by a brief Q&A.
